serious question, because I'm not well-versed, at all, in the homelessness issue...........but for those of you that may be, has there been any real research as to what percentage are homeless because of something truly out of their control, vs due to their own actions/decisions?

I advise everyone to put some volunteer time in at the Jimmie Hale Mission here in Birmingham. They help the people that want to be helped. The vast majority of the homeless here in Birmingham are living a lifestyle.

We just have a whole lot more sorry folks than we did when I was growing up. Standing on a street corner with a sign begging money from the public is what they do. This probably started with the hippies bumming spare change in the 60's
Grandma said...Always keep a gun close at hand, you just never know when you might run across some varmint that needs killing...

Ah yes, forgot about about Peanut. The other guy you mentioned is Delmar, he’s a good soul. I believe he is just mentally disabled like the movie Radio sorta. The guy in the hard hat I mention is not Delmar. The guy I’m talking about was a short white guy that was around in the late 80s and early 90s.
