The economist on Fox said to not kid yourself, it is not all Corona Virus. He attributes a lot of it to the fact that Bernie the Communist is gaining steam. Of course, I bet you won't hear this on the other networks until the DNC tells them to make sure Bernie isn't the nominee, but then they will also be admitting that Trump is good for the economy. Sometimes it can be so hard being liars.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Supposedly this guy is there
TL; DR (2): Corona is 30-50 times more dangerous and fatal than the common flu; it shuts down economies as it goes; it cannot be quarantined; governments are helpless and don’t know what to do

Clinical results of the Coronavirus continue to surprise researchers to the downside. We know now that it is spread by people who do not know they’re infected. Also, we’ve learned that accurate testing is nearly impossible; patients can test negative two times then a third time will come back positive. Most (perhaps 70-80%) people who become infected suffer only mild symptoms, but the remaining 20-30% require hospitalization. Of that 20-30%, more than half will die. That makes this disease about 30-40 times more dangerous than the common flu in terms of fatality rates, and 50 times more dangerous in terms of demands on hospital services. It is this crush of new patients showing up, desperately ill, that crashes medical systems.

The virus doesn’t spread, so much as it explodes. You’ll have an area with no cases, and suddenly there are hundreds. That’s because so many people are infected but don’t know it—it’s just a cold, a slight fever—then they can’t breathe and need to be taken to the ER. By then they have had the virus for up to three weeks and have infected dozens of other people who will be showing up themselves in a few hours or days. Iran wasn’t in the news at all until 24 hours ago; now martial law has been declared in their holy city, bodies are piling up in the capital, and they’ve already sent infected passengers abroad to Canada and Spain on airliners. Northern Italy had zero cases on Thursday; now it’s hundreds of confirmed cases—2 days. It happens that fast.

Then, the virus immediately shuts down all economic and social activity. Everything from Girls Night Out to major marathons and trade shows get canceled. Airline flights and hotel reservations get canceled. Vacations and wedding plans get canceled. Church services get canceled. Factory orders get canceled. Concerts get canceled. Who wants to be in the news because they had a big wedding where fifty guests got sick and ten died? What company wants to be on MSNBC because they wanted to make a few more widgets and some of their employees got infected and passed it on to their kids? Who is willing to organize a business conference, a church picnic, a travel group to the Holy Land or Sea World? So these things just don’t happen. And it’s amazing how fast it happens. It happens—literally—overnight.

Hubei Province is where the outbreak began, and has been under Chinese Army quarantine since the first week of January. They are still reporting new cases daily. If the People’s Liberation Army, using tanks and armed soldiers, cannot stop people from spreading this disease, no army can. No quarantine can. Had they been more forthcoming in the very beginning as to what they were dealing with, there was a chance. Now there’s not.

So the disease cannot be ringfenced off, so what then? Do they lift the quarantine? Order 600,000,000 people back to work to get the economy moving again, but also knowing the number of infections and deaths will be hyperbolic? When should governments allow international travel again, to and from China (last month) and Singapore (two weeks ago) and Japan and Korea (last week)—and Italy and Israel (yesterday), and tomorrow, who else?

There is probably no way to escape the economic devastation that will be wrought. You cannot take a third of the world’s factories offline for two quarters and not see ripple effects that wipe out millions of businesses around the world. You can’t shut down the world’s tourism and hospitality industries without soon knowing someone who has lost their job. There are tens of millions of people who are rich and comfortable today, who by the end of June won’t be. No matter who you are, or where you live, it’s coming, and it’s coming fast.

If you are a novice investor and have any trouble deciding when to buy or sell, look no further than the TV commercials.
If they're encouraging you to buy gold, it's a great time to sell. When they're offering to buy your gold, it's a great time to buy.

Whats to complain about, when you gamble, “you gotta know when to hold them, know when to fold”

Corona is mostly fatal to smokers, dopers, vape-heads, or folk subject to heavy pollution based on ACE2

I read the other day that Smithfield I think is moving their pork processing operations to China. Meat would still be raised here but shipped to China processed then shipped back to the US. Now tell me who is going to buy it after this.

Leisure travel is taking a big hit. No one wants to fly if they dont have to so companies that deal with travel is taking a big hit. Airline companies, booking.com , all the cruise line: Norwegian, Carnival, Carnival cruises.

Tech stocks are diving too, Apple etc.

If you were invest in this market Netflix would be a pretty good bet I am thinking. Folks staying home and having to binge watch

Not surprised,,,,AT ALL. I still don't think its the BIG ONE. It might be but not yet.
I firmly believe China will collapse. It could also trigger WW3 if some enterprising
country (Russia,Japan, Iran, ???) decides that now its "go time".

Count your bullets and buy milk and bread.

The market is still up massively over last year. $100 invested last year is $130 this year. The sky hasn't fallen quite yet.

Cloud and remote business software companies are going to do well with this. Look for Microsoft and Amazon to rebound significantly.
