I built a 7.62x39 for hogs. Ammo is cheap and the hogs don’t handle that round very good. Does a heck of a job with the cheap HP ammo. I also killed a few truck loads of hogs with my 223/556. It’s just me but there is nothing about the 300 blackout that peaks my interest.

I would say either a 6.5 grendel or 6.8 spc. I have both and like them

A 6.5 Grendel is ideal. It’s got better penetration than a 300 blackout and it’s still in a cheaper ar 15 build.

When the hogs really started showing up on the farm I would carry my 223/556. It would kill them but you had to sometimes shoot them multiple times to drop them. I shoot a 55gr. lead core HP and they were cheap so I would shoot till they drop. I decided to build the 6.8spc after some research. It did a really good job on the hogs but the ammo is not cheap. It got expensive to shoot. The cost of the ammo gave me a reason to build the Grendel(you know what I mean). It also did a good job and cheaper FMj ammo could be found but I don’t like shooting an animal with FMJs so good ammo costs were not cheap for the amount I was shooting. That’s when I read about the 7.62x39 and decided to build one. This has been my go to hog(and deer sometimes) rifle ever since. I bought a good supply of lead core HPs for $4 a box and they will flat out a hog on its arse if I do my part. I don’t have the longer range of the other rifles with it but I can still stretch out a good ways as I’ve practiced my hold overs and really learned what this rifle can do. I still carry the 223/556 for larger groups. I’ve been carrying the 350 legend I built to try to kill some with it but have seen any yet. They all will do a good job on the hogs and if ammo costs don’t matter and you want just one AR, my opinion is build a Grendel.

When I was a child we always used a 22 to the ear hole lol. With that being said I'd go with a 450 Bushmaster 👍

i have a 223, 300BO, and 6.5 grendel. I like the 300 BO for hog hunting due to performance in the woods.
It is what it is.
Inspect what you Expect.
Hunting TN, AL, KY, and IL.

my favorite is the 762x39. Was using the psak 47 rifle with folding stock and iron sights, due to optics fogging early in the morning in muggy weather. This year i went to psak 47 pistol with sig romeo 5. i use mine for hog dogging, so i like something small and light weight getting in/out truck and walking through the woods in the summer. Ammo is cheap, but very effective. You can also buy a case of ammo to stockpile for a couple hundred dollars.
