Because the government “borrowed” less of your money for free all year or your getting less of someone else money they you didn’t earn. Plain and simple. Really there is no other reason
It blows my mind how many people don’t understand that. People also think you can “write off” a new truck that you didn’t need and get it for free. It’s 20% cheaper, but it ain’t free. And if you didn’t need it, you just paid for a truck for no reason.
