I read where the entire class of newly hired Troopers in GA are no longer employed. 32 were fired and 1 was allowed to resign. They were given an online test to take about speed detection and decided to make it a group project instead of taking the test individually.

I wonder who the rat was?

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Actually there is a lot more to it. When you go to court you are supposed to be able to testify to the basics of how the radars operate, how they are calibrated and a lot of other technical stuff. Not the easiest certification I got.

The question they failed was how many people have to get on an island before it tips over...... Well they were in Georgia.

I was at one time an instructor on radar and in charge of certification for operation. I think each step is very important. A radar gun that’s not properly calibrated and confirmed with some personal skill and common sense is about as accurate as aiming a lollipop and saying your it.

Although in reality 99% of radar tickets are the lollipop method. The benefit of having the experience however is if you write me a speeding ticket based on radar, you better be on your a game when court date comes.

MLB has it figured out. What’s next, eye witnesses have to give testimony on how their retina works?

So uh, help us know how to articulate a defense then fellas. Knock on wood I've not received a ticket in some 20 years. I have caught myself speeding from time to time. Guess I've just gotten lucky or got a feel for things so to speak.

Also, for you LEO types, school me on the legalities of stop light cameras owned by third parties.

In Alabama, they are legal as long as our State Legislature has given the municipality permission to have them. I am adamantly opposed to them for two reasons. First, my LE ethics don't allow me to agree with a private entity profiting from enforcing the law. Secondly, all they are is an end run around Alabama laws requiring an offense be committed in an officer's presence to be cited for a misdemeanor or violation.

Agree with your first point fully. Not tracking your second. Granted I'm dranking again after being sick so I might be a tad slow. Thanks for the reply as always.

In Alabama no citation issued or misdemeanor arrest can be made without a warrant unless it was committed in the officer's presence. Municipalities in Alabama can not enforce Civil Law. What the legislature did with the red light tickets was to allow certain cities to enforce these civilly and therefore do an end run around Alabama's Criminal Procedure laws.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Would hate to lose a whole class of cadets, but if they don't have the integrity to not cheat on a test while in training, do you really want them on the street enforcing law.

What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

I have no sympathy for them. My 22 year old son who studied his butt off on his own, took and passed the Network+ exam has now done the same thing for months and months and on Friday will take and (Good Lord willing) pass the CCNA. I know how hard he has worked and I know he deserves it.

People who don't do the work don't deserve chit. If you'll cheat on a test with you buddies at the Academy, what kind of dishonest stuff will you do as a sworn officer? God help us all...

We already got about 33 million more cops than we need.
Every town has so many cops that 10 of em show up to write a damn a speeding ticket.
Got one car pulled over and it looks like a Las Vegas circus with all the flashing strobes.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I think Prattville has 81 police officers.

There's never too many cops when I've needed one; quite the opposite
