I am glad you are here to tell about it and prayers for a speedy recovery.
I had a similar incident, but luckily I was only stepping onto the bottom platform when the cable broke. I was already connected to tree, but had not always done so. It would have been real ugly if it would have broken at a different time.

I bought the stand on here. The cables looked pristine and he’d only used it a few times.
I don’t fault the guy I bought from. I sought out him.
I’m not too happy with the manufacturer though.

Was hunting with a buddy the other day and asked him if he hooks in on the way up and down. Was glad to hear he does. I’ve had other friends that either don’t have enough sense or are just to dang lazy to be safe. Keep your buddies honest.
