Interesting. We heard/ saw very few birds up until the early 90's. They were around but seeing a drove didn't happen often. I believe the first gobbler was killed on our place in the late 80's. When I started hunting at the age of 14, in 1990 I heard one bird gobble several times and I talked about it for weeks. By the mid to late 90's things started really picking up and getting on several gobblers in one morning was about the norm but saw very few hens. Then around 8-10 years ago the population exploded. More hens more gobblers, etc.

If the restocking occurred in the mid 70's I wander if it took more than 10 years for the birds to spread over the entire county or this was just my observation and others saw turkeys way before we did.
