I have no idea if it's corrupt or not, but it seems like 6500 acres near Birmingham could get more than $3/acre. 10 guys could split that and have an incredible place to hunt at an incredible price. "Bow only" though so maybe that is fair market value. Median income according to Wikipedia is $91,000 for that area. So folks have money in that area too.

Corruption probable give who leased it - the same classic form of government corruption that exists in all countries, some worse then others --- government official(s) get monetary bribes to lease for below market value.
And everyone knows $3 per acre is way below fmv anywhere in this State.

There is probably a pile of hogs on it too. I had a buddy who hunted behind Greystone and there were a bunch of hogs in the area back 10 yrs ago
