The fact that Big John was not wearing a badge or uniform may be what saves the kids life and gets him convicted of Murder instead of Capital Murder. Everyone in the area knows Big John and sadly, that fact looks like it caused him to be complacent and tragically, cost him his life.
That may be true. My question if this kid has a record, he obviously knew this sheriff
But proving he knew him and recognized him will be the issue.
The fact is though, that Big John was liked and respected by all in Lowndes County pretty much. Putting this kid in prison may end up being a death sentence anyways no matter what the conviction ends up being.
