Here’s a buck we’ve had on camera for several years. He was NEVER a nice symmetrical buck, he was never an 8 point, and he didn’t start putting on mass until he was 5. Most of us would shoot this buck (pretty sure he’s at least 6 years old). My point is he will make a fantastic mount, if I can kill him, and under your theory he would have been shot 3+ years ago because he was “inferior”. You just cannot tell what they will turn into when they are young. I’m not telling you to let everything walk (shoot what YOU are happy with) but you can’t judge genetics until they are older and (here’s the big part) the doe he breeds provides just as much “antler” genetics as he does. Meaning there’s no telling what his offspring will look like. Could be identical or could be something totally different.
