If ya'll are just now catching on to hunting becoming a sport for "others" ya'll need to open your eyes. The latest push for the millennial aged and health conscious is just the final nail in the coffin. It all has to do with making it a country club sport to weed out the common folk. With $25/acre leases, $2500 rifles and $5k scopes, $5k blinds, $500 tree stands, etc etc hunting is no longer affordable for common man. Making it a health conscious decision as well only improves the investment. Hunt public land, use an 870 slug gun, sit on the ground, etc. etc. All the expenses you just stated aren’t necessary to kill a deer. I agree with you but I live in Athens AL. The only public ground I can use a gun on within a 30 minute drive of my house is only accessible by a boat. If I drive an hour and a half then I can get Bankhead but then you have to factor in gas costs. So now I've either got to buy a bow, a boat, or spend a lot of money on gas...…. still expensive.
