If ya'll are just now catching on to hunting becoming a sport for "others" ya'll need to open your eyes. The latest push for the millennial aged and health conscious is just the final nail in the coffin. It all has to do with making it a country club sport to weed out the common folk. With $25/acre leases, $2500 rifles and $5k scopes, $5k blinds, $500 tree stands, etc etc hunting is no longer affordable for common man. Making it a health conscious decision as well only improves the investment. Hunt public land, use an 870 slug gun, sit on the ground, etc. etc. All the expenses you just stated aren’t necessary to kill a deer. I agree with you but I live in Athens AL. The only public ground I can use a gun on within a 30 minute drive of my house is only accessible by a boat. If I drive an hour and a half then I can get Bankhead but then you have to factor in gas costs. So now I've either got to buy a bow, a boat, or spend a lot of money on gas...…. still expensive.

Have you guys seen the uprising of younger hunters that claim they hunt to get away from factory farming? It seems to be a trend in other states. I've seen them mention that not everyone hunting is a dumb redneck with a gun. Who is "they/them"? I have no doubt that someone, somewhere, may have said that, but I think you're painting with a broad brush saying that all these "younger hunters that claim they hunt to get away from factory farming" think all us other hunters are "dumb rednecks". I think a lot of them just want to be a little more self-sufficient and take a little more active role in obtaining their food. How is that a bad thing?

For a group of people that loves to make fun of liberal snowflakes, you guys sure do let some little (or even non-issues) shake ya up real good.

If I were to encounter one these " liberal snowflakes " hunting. Then we have something in common and that's a good start to have a civilized conversation about other things we may have opposing views on. Like I've said many times on here. We as hunters are our own worst enemy.

We as hunters are our own worst enemy. the problem is that in this day & age, people (in general) are completely incapable have just disagreeing with someone. 24-hour News and Social Media have stirred folks up to the point that I think people truly hate folks with a different opinion/belief. Civil Discourse is a thing of the past. And, honestly, both "sides" are equally to blame for this.

Hunting is being taken over by people with money. They have about priced out the common working man. There are a lot of what you would call white collar professionals hunting today compared to 30-40 years ago. These people didn't grow up hunting because there white collar parents didn't hunt but now hunting is kind of the in thing in those circles. These people have money to spend and are pricing the blue collar working man out of the sport. Is that good or bad I don't know but it is happening.

So, if you grew up in a non-hunting family and you don't work a blue-collar job or live paycheck to paycheck, you shouldn't be allowed to get into hunting? If guys like "The Hunting Public", Catman and Dave Owens haven't proven anything else, it's that you don't need some expensive private lease or tons of expensive gear to kill deer and turkeys. Some folks just make it harder or more complicated and expensive than it has to be. The one guy, a poster on this site in fact, that's had the best deer season of anyone I know so far this year has done it all on public land...some folks are just too damn lazy to get out and do it.

I didn't say that at all. I am just saying the kind of people that are getting into hunting has changed over the last 30 years.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I’m for whatever sells hunting licenses since those numbers do nothing but nosedive and the median age group rises. I'm for anything that reduces the numbers of hunters. Don't give a schit about licensing. We got too damn many people in the woods.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Don't give a schit about licensing. We got too damn many people in the woods. Where does this reasoning come from? I’ve hunted 3 WMAs so far this year and have not ran into anyone. Maybe I have good luck, who knows. Do you not want to see the love and passion for hunting carry on to the next generation? No offense old man, but you sound ignorant
