Game Warden asked me the other day in conversation if I ever ate veal as in spotted fawn veal. Evidently he has and it is pretty darn tasty.

Another completely asinine change in my opinion although I am not a biologist.

No biological reason not to?

Is there a biological reason why it should occur?

If no, then why make a change?

Maybe MB can shed some light on this to help me understand it.

Is it actually not in the regulations? These kind of chat/text message pictures are super easy to photoshop.

How long do fawns keep their spots?

I don't particularly want to shoot one, however there really is no biological reason for making a law against it. I see a lot of fawns laying at the processor. It really makes no difference if that fawn is 5-6 months old or a late born 3 month old with spots biologically speaking.

My Uncle wasn't a hunter but owned the farming land we use to hunt. He didn't give a rip if it was spots, horns or all ears, he just wanted it dead. Deer are just a nuisance animal in many areas. We hunters make them all important.
Nobody cares if you shoot a young squirrel or kill a baby rat. The need to thin the herd has outgrown the "ethics" of it all.

Excellent point. I’ve shot a “fawn” a time or 2 just never spotted. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t born that year

No way the non-hunting public will view this favorably....If that matters.
