OK, I have heard the Big John's side version and I've heard the kid's family's version. Having heard both, I'm looking for some video tapes. If they exist, which they should, one side should be proven wrong. Now we may not get to hear the truth until it goes to trial or he pleads guilty, but eventually we'll know the truth.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Right now it is just a workers comp suit.

Alabama WC doesn't pay much for a death in the line of employment when there are no dependents.
He has a wife who would be considered a dependent though.

So the article reads that he was in his pickup truck(sheriff), I'm guessing that it was unmarked and he was not in uniform. Why would they be sueing if he was on duty and in uniform? Looks like the family is going to sue everyone and everything involved. Gas station employees said they didn't call, so someone else at the station called? Getting interesting

Still more unsubstantiated rumors. I've heard from pretty credible sources, and it was in the media, opposite of some of what you say so just stop until info starts coming out in court.

Now the article has been updated to say they did NOT file a lawsuit. So much BS and confusion.

On a side note, I hope someone in Lowndes County knows of the federal trust fund that is set up to pay the survivors of LEOs killed in the line of duty. It is a lot of paperwork but last I heard the payout to families was about 375K. I would hope someone over there can and will do it, but you never know. I'll do it for them if no one else will. It is a lot of paperwork.

I've kinda kept quiet and listened to both sides of this story and I've heard the boy was in trouble before. So if the sheriff was in plain clothes or not he had to know who the man was. Just my 2 cents
