I use fleece pajama pants from academy, went one size smaller so they would fit a little snug and not be bunched up under the outer layer. They work very well

I use M65 field jacket liner and M65 pants liners. They are excellent for a mid layer and very light and packable. The pants liner futon up the legs and can be taken off or put on without taking your boots off. I wear a merino base layers, field liner and shirt and pants down to 30’s. The liners also seem to act as a windstopper.
