Suburban is a good dude. I’ve known him for several years. Our wives have been friends since they were little and were roommates in college.
With that being said, please continue to make fun of him. He’s new and he deserves at least a month of ridicule 😀
Thank you pal...i think 🤔 😂

I have permission on some land abutting a largish subdivision. The landowners have granted me access to another large section again abutting a neighborhood. While google satellite scouting I noticed at least one well worn 4wheeler path deep into it. Gotta buy some keep out signs and put’em up today. Keeping the Suburbanites out looks to be the biggest challenge to this spot.
If a hunter doesn’t have landowner permission that hunter is a poacher and trespassing. If I retrieve from or cross the land of others to access without permission I am stealing someone else’s deer and trespassing. If I feel these rules are stupid or bad or ill conceived then I can address that with my political representation. But the homeowners have a right to enjoy their homestead without me dragging a carcass across the yard. Optimally I will do a good enough job of aiming to minimize that result.
While the subdivision is in the city the hunting land is in the county. So as long as the shot doesn’t hit a house and isn’t taken inside the exclusion distance there’s a good chance of a clean kill and its legal. By the way, some HOAs own the streets and sidewalks and pay for their maintenance. So the streets and sidewalks would be equally off limits to park on or drag down without permission.
After rereading the distance required for hunting near a dwelling it’s gonna push me back 100yds off the property line. It looks like this applies to all hunting not just firearms. That’s gonna cut out about 1/4 of the area. Guess that’s gonna be the sanctuary

Also I’ve found that neighbors are happy to have a good law abiding archery hunter protecting and guarding the neighboring land. We’ve caught illegals using high powered weapons on one of our properties. A solid law abiding hunter is the best thing to protect the property and the neighboring properties. I use good signage and cell cameras along with a friendly conversation with anyone who maybe concerned in any capacity. I’m usually met with a positive response and some good deer intel, unless the neighbor themselves is the one that has been poaching. Those guys are pretty easy to spot.

I recommend finding the guy named Timber....... Over 2500 acres of all mature hardwoods spread out all over the suburbs of Birmingham. What’s your timber like? A lying, poaching, POS with an orange Hulk-like “mother”...

General tips for hunting out of a suburban: - Wear ear protection. You know, safety first. - Don't get the muzzle too close to the windshield or mirrors. - Don't use 6.5 creed unless you want to blow out every window and flatten all tires in one shot - Suburbans can be difficult to hide when piddling so a nice fancy krylon camo paint job can help. - If parked near ag field, open up that back door, lay the seats down and lay prone for stability. That's all I got for now...... ![grin grin](/forum/images/graemlins/default/grin.gif)

I’ve hunted a track of land in the city limits of Montgomery for the past fifteen years. It boarders a section eight housing neighborhood and road that has been closed for twenty years. The folks in the hood will tell you were the biggins are and let you get on their property to retrieve a deer as long as you bring them meat and beer. The only problem that I have with them is the damn dogs that run loose and go feral. There’s a lot of people I know that hunt close to us and are just as successful. Some even more so.
