My brother found a trunk in the woods in SE Ohio. When he opened it he almost passed out when he saw the body. But it turned out to be a CPR practice mannequin.

Hunting on Army installations I come across some interesting stuff. Old target vehicles long abandoned, training ordnance, and old facilities. There's nothing quite like running into old concertina wire in the dark on the way to your stand.in the morning.

What’s the story on that one? I think my trips in and out of the woods would be a little faster after that.

It seems I walk up on a deflated balloon every season in the woods somewhere. One year I found one still floating about 4’ off the ground. It had a note attached to it with a kids handwriting. Evidently a kid had a friend that died somehow and wrote a note and attached it to the balloon. It was strange to me to find that.

Found a couple teens playing hide the pickle near my stand on an old logging road. Found and old marijuana field with custom watering system. Found some sharks teeth in a creek. Found a box of .30-30 bullets in an old pouch from the ‘50s. Found an old drunk SOB about a mile down a desolate road wondering in the dark....spooky (he almost tasted lead!)

Hunting brings out the worst in people.

If that was on Verbena I remember when that happened.

I found a balloon and tied to it was a picture of a young black man in a casket. On the back of the pic. was a note." I am so sorry I couldn't make it to your funeral, but you know my situation."

Found a menu from the Busy Bee in Cullman that was blown on our property in Jackson County during the '11 tornadoes. I found it about 18 months after the tornadoes . It was in one of those old school plastic covers and was still in good shape. Any of y'all ever visit the Busy Bee it's now hanging over the cash register.

Finding balloons are common for me. But I never really look at them. I don't know if there has been anything attached or not. Guess I'll have to start looking

It's boring around here. Finding a weather balloon is something exciting in these parts

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Or while you and a female private are stumbling across the FOB in that dark looking for a secluded place to fraternize.

I was in the timber business for 12 years and I found lots of things in the woods.

I found a red sweater about 20 feet up in a tree, after the 2011 storms. I used to hunt sitting on top of a grave marker, in the middle of the TNF in Cleburne County. It was the only one for miles around, that I ever found.

I found several pictures of black folks having a hoe down after the 2011 storms. I felt bad for laughing at the pics realizing some of the folks in em probably lost their home or even died but randomly finding pics of crazy black folks is just dang funny ! I believe they came from the first tornado that came thru in early April 2011.

I spotted a red blanket in the top of a mature white oak after these storms came through. There is still some of it up there.

Also found all kinds of medical records from Smithville, MS after the storm demolished the town lying in our pastures and woods. Same storm came right over us, but not with the same intensity.

See all kinds of Indian bones diggers have dug up from an Indian mound I hunt by. Not for me. Bad Ju-Ju there for those folks. I usually bury the bones back instead of leaving them exposed.

Found a stolen motorcycle just last year that was abandoned on me. Thief lived across the road from where he hid it. I called it in and while the LEO was doing the write up, the owner drove by and got it back. It had pretty much been trashed, but he got it back.

I can't stand a thief.

I once found swamp_fever in the woods, or maybe he found me...either way it was strange.

central ala,
Tornados can deliver some strange items. I found an ironing board in the middle of nowhere.

Had found a really good spot to hunt at oakmulgee over 20 years ago and marked a tree for the next hunt. Got in before daylight and went up the tree about 20 ft. in my climber. Got daylight and it seemed like a great spot. After looking around a little I saw an old plastic coke bottle someone had wedged between some limbs just above me. Limbs were grown around it. Seems I wasn't the only person who thought it was a great spot for a climber. Shot a small buck that day too.

I was slippin down an old logging rd one morning with a 20 ga loaded with buckshot when out walks a dang emu. I didn’t know what heck the thang was. Well while I was trying to figure out what I was looking at ,it saw me and charged ! I yelled at him and he never checked up .. I hit em with once at about 25 steps and it just staggered him and he kept comin.. I waited till he got to within 15 yards and I hit him twice and he crashed at my feet and crappie flopped.. I was about 17 when that went down and to this day I don’t think I’ve ran across a tougher critter.
