Thanks everyone!
A couple years ago I always thought elk was just a pipe dream for people like me. I’m here to tell you it’s not. It’s somewhat expensive, but it doesn’t have to be the multi thousand dollar affair you think it is. A tag is $660ish, then you just need good boots, a good pack, and decent camping gear. There are MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of acres of public land out west. Me and buddies split hotels and gas, those expenses combined are around $200 each for a trip. The gear you’ll use over and over. If you are on the edge, go do it. Get in shape. I’ve lost over 50 lbs since starting this journey and that makes my life better all the time, not just in the mountains. You are paying for that land, use it! 2 of my buddies had small game licenses for $82 and harvested grouse with handguns, all the fun without the pain of a pack out! And they are a lot better than freeze dried meals at camp!

Oh boy. Dang fine bull.
It's only a dream till you get one of those down on the ground and walk up to it. Then it gets real!
Congrats.

Folks always talk about how challenging that terrain is and looking at your pictures I am more convinced then ever. What a beautiful place to hunt though.

Great bull!! I gotta find me a place that’s open like that. This dark timber hunting is tough.
I made Shaw bow up so we could pack out in 2 trips. Lol
