Awesome bull for anywhere in my opinion - the fact you got him on a DIY, public land hunt in CO makes it even more impressive!

You are RIGHT about the deadfall - it is terrible out west these days - CO especially. I was out there in September on a bow-hunt and it just plain sucked. There needs to be a giant fire out there that burns all those dead tree till they're gone. The area I was hunting had about 30% of the dead timber down and the rest was still standing. If there had been any kind of wind - there is no way I would have hunted some of the places I was in - way to concerned about falling trees. It will be many years before those forests are rid of that crap.

Congratulations! My normal elk crew is in Colorado right now for second rifle. I couldn’t make it this year due to issues at work. They are getting hammered with snow and single digit temps. The borrowed my gear, an air beam military tent but didn’t want to take the heater to avoid having to deal with fuel and seem to be regretting it.

Again congratulations heck of a bull and an experience of a lifetime.
