Unfortunately, the system is against you. If you try to do what’s legal, you are going to have to pester the mess out of the local officers to
stay on top of them. At some point, YOU will become an irritation to those who possess a job that is designed to help you. They will become less focused on helping you the more you call because it requires effort beyond what they usually have to give. Their efforts are not rewarded with extra pay, or extra benefits. They receive the same pay whether they chase your problem or not. This is the way the world works. Their response times to your calls will get longer. You’ll have to start talking to supervisors to get anything done and none of it will be quick. Eventually, you’ll be ignored. Unless you sweeten the pot for the law enforcement somehow, you will get nowhere, unless it is just an easy response arrest situation one time.

During this process you’ll become increasingly frustrated. This will drive you to think about actions that you know you shouldn’t follow through on. You’re actually putting yourself and your family at risk more than the guys doing the wrong.

I hope you get this figured out and find a resolution. I hope it doesn’t wind up in a situation like we saw play out last year for the hunter in Wilcox.

This is why I’ve convinced myself that it’s not worth buying property.

Why would these type problems be less of a problems with leased property? Or do you just not want to hunt any more?
I had the worst problems on a property I leased. It's obviously easier to walk away if the property is leased.

Leased properties would be the same issue.

Deer hunting larger clubs that have large tracts of land, or hunting larger tracts of public land have been the only way I have found to minimize the potential of dealing with the problem.

Depending on your location, you may or may not have experienced to the extent I have seen this type behavior play out. I have personally found that the smaller acreage you have access to, the more potential you have for problems.

I haven’t quit hunting, I just quit wasting money on places that I feel have higher risks for nonsense like this. I know I can’t afford to buy a big enough piece of property that I can move to the other side to avoid having my hunt messed up by such activity if it was happening until I could get it under control. Same issues exist when leasing property, it’s just harder to deal with when leasing than when owning.

The point was when you have problems, you have options to hunt away from the problems until you can figure out how to solve them. You also aren’t on your own in solving them.

On smaller parcels, you likely have less options available.

Years ago I had a similar problem. If I had stayed there long enough one of us would have left
in an ambulance and the other in the back of a police car.

Get BhamFred to drop his wife off over there. Haven’t you ever read his posts about her catching trespassers? From his stories, it wouldn’t take but once or twice and they’d be too afraid to come back. grin

Buy a cheap set of chrome rims, the biggest flat screen TV you can from the thrift store, and a Hi-Point 9mm. Leave 'em out in the open and easy to get to.

Then, lock up the stuff you don't want stolen. By the time they load up a heavy TV and fill the truck bed up with rims they'll be real tired. A new pistol will be the icing on the cake. For $500.00, you can keep them away from the good stuff.

Go and talk to them. Tell them you have pictures, show them the pics. Then go to the Sheriff’s department and make a report and take out a warrant. Have them prosecuted and when it goes to court ask to have it placed on the administrative inactive docket for one year. That will give them one year to act right or be back in court with new charges.

You're most likely fighting a losing battle. Be nice, and give it a shot, but I have given up before. I got $500+ worth of stuff stolen at a lease a couple of years ago. It was more of and inconvenience than the money, even. Hoping to sit in a stand, and showing up and it's not there is no fun.

I know what I'd do in that situation. Some things are better left unsaid.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
