I think Opal had 130+ gusts in freaking Birmingham! Don't believe that was Opal. It was Opal, but it wasn't 130 mph in BHM. I think it was 130 at landfall with gusts up to 100 mph in BHM. There were big oaks down everywhere. Some old couple decided to go site seeing in our neighborhood during what was left of the eye passing. A big oak fell on their car and killed either one or both of them. We lost a 40 ac patch of 12 year old planted pines in Dallas County, looked like a field of pick-em up sticks. DC is correct, we never got 130 mph winds in Dothan but trust me 100 mph winds is enough.
