You get when you learn of a property you have hunted all your life just got sold and is now being clear cut. It has been so dry they are taking all the swamp chestnut oaks too. The timber in that swamp is virgin. I sure hope they aren't wanting to use it for anything. There's cotton spindles, screw in steps, and nails in just about every one of them.

we just sold our 400 acre family property in TN....ownership was split between about 9 people (3rd/4th generation), none of whom could afford to buy out the others, keep it up themselves, or agree on a way to keep it in the family. Most just saw $ signs and refused to entertain anything but a sale. Only bidders were timber companies, so it will likely be cut here pretty soon.
I hate the thought of it, but it's been probably 12-14 yrs since I've set foot on the place and that likely wasn't going to change...at least not on a regular basis. And it's a shame too, because that was some primo land - about 250 acres of rolling hardwood with a couple of pine thickets on it, then about 150 acres of pasture mixed with swamp bottom, and several hundred yards of Hatchie River frontage.
My biggest regret is I didn't give 2 shucks about a turkey when I lived in Memphis and was able to hunt it regularly. Now I'm obsessed, and I'll never get to kill a bird off that land.

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I have that same feeling but because I’ll be moving to Orlando, FL. That’s on you though. Not enough money in the world to get me to move there.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

There's good land to hunt in Ocala. Plus they have Osceola turkeys. Deer aren't near as big as they are in central Bama but they rut in November.

Line up some good Osceola properties down there and you will be overrun with aldeer turkey hunters in the Spring. Good fishing and golf down there too. Plus you can take Ben2 on a python hunt

I have that same feeling but because I’ll be moving to Orlando, FL. That sucks what job u take down there? Yep got an offer from Brasfield and Gorrie I couldn’t turn down. I worked for B&G back in the 80's....They sent me to Ocala....Orlando....Boca....Tampa... Stayed down there for almost 4 years....my HUNTING turned to Crap....Never had the time to come home. I told them you send me back to somewhere in Alabama or I'm leaving on my own in 2 weeks...I left!!! Went to B'ham....got a job within 1 week and my REAL LIFE once again returned!!! My nephew worked for them out of the Panhandle office until it finally closed....then he went out on his own. Excellent company....but You're just a number to the higher-ups...

If I moved back to Orlando, I'd be a hog and turkey hunting machine.
