Based on the article, the onset on the event sounds like justifiable self defense. 3 robbers armed (unclear if all were armed) were shooting at them. I would guess the robber dead in the driveway was shot first and justifiable.

Now after that, something get unclear. The only way it wouldn't be self defense would be if the robbers were shot while running away. Once the attack is broke off, it's not longer self defense.
