There is nothing new about this. I heard this 30 years ago. It is the dewpoint being factored in, thus creating what feels like a hotter temp with the heat index compared to the actual temp.

If you've never walked outside and thought "Damn, it feels like it's probably more than 100 degrees" when it's 92, that's the deal. It's an actual thing.

But to your point, yeah, hot is hot.
