Most places i know are about 5.5-7.5 scoring less than 145, in my experience if they make it to 6.5 an they are still a framey 8 that will go bout 135...he gon die. Most times you can tell a buck is gonna be a trophy at 2.5 sometimes even 1.5. Place i guided we had a couple that wer 8 points at 1.5 an by3.5 they wer knockin on 180... high fence yes, 4k acres.. but that was it..low fence next door had same quality deer and density...apply that when considering hunts in south texas..most LF is just as good as HF if the right folks are managing it. I agree on animal quality. I also think that some folks make too big a deal about high fence. I wouldn't hunt a 200 acre high fence, but once you pass about 2500 acres, I would say that most critters don't even know the fence is there. Your right huck, they do and 90% have no idea what even goes on because theyve never been there..they just dislike the thought i guess..and id assume deer breeders and their little rinky dink pay hunt operations are the cause for that mentality.
