camp pres works at Nissan and had one of the first generations (and drives a current model, now). had the rear end issue. also had an exhaust manifold tick/leak. a plant mechanic told him tick wouldn’t hurt anything to leave it alone, because it would be an expensive fix...if the fix worked. another buddy had one that had the cat converters replaced, which were off of the headers instead of exhaust pipes...another expensive periodic maintenance item.
other than those issues, everybody that drives them say they run like a scalded dog!!
