I remember spending the night at my grandmaw’s house and shelling peas in front of a box fan on a hot summer night. They finally got a window air unit in their bedroom and about 15 minutes before we went to bed they’d turn it on and close the door, I remember opening that door and the cool air hitting me in the face as I pole vaulted onto a bed that was three or four old mattresses thick and at least four feet off the ground. On holidays my grandmaw would put out all the food and after we ate she’d throw a bed sheet over it til we ate the second round at supper.

Thinking back to families sitting around together talking all afternoon seems so foreign now that I think about it. Good thread Outback!
