Anybody been tagged by one? Think they're actually a flightless wasp if I recall... We saw one in our driveway a few days ago, running right at my daughters bare foot. Luckily, I stomped it before it got to her. That's the first one I remember seeing in a loooong time. I've heard their sting is one of the worst there is.

yes I would compare it to a Hornets sting maybe worse if my memory is right I tried picking one up to use for bluegill bait when I was maybe 10 or 11 never attempted that again. only thing i can compare it to is when I got hit by a full size big as your thumb hornet

Yes, I stomped this one twice and it kept squirming. Finally put my boot on it and dragged it across the concrete until there was nothing left

Had to look it up. I can say I have never seen one.

Hard to kill and will make a squealing noise every now and then when under your dress crazy

I see them somewhat regularly.. I think its the sandy hayfield that I live in.

Is that what I've been calling a red velvet ant all these years?

I'd rank their sting right behind a scorpion.

I see them pretty regular but never been crazy enough to pick one up. I’ve never known them to be aggressive as long as you don’t mess with them.

Here’s a video of Coyote Peterson doing what he does best... getting stung.

Had them all over my place in Chelsea. Killed a couple each month. They were loud. Didn't like the bottom of my boot much. Don't want to get stung by one.

Are you really hokding that SOB in your hand? It aint mashed enough to be dead. I had seen them all my life but never knew anything about em until I tried to scoop one up in a jar to show the boys. The damn thing lit me up. It hurt so bad that I wondered if they were poisonious. I googled red fuzzy ant and the first thing I saw was " Cow Killer Ant". I thought oh shucks if it can kill a cow.....
