A divorce doesn’t undo a contract between your friend’s now ex-wife and the bank. The bank loaned the money to BOTH of them. The bank will get their money from either one of them that it can. The bank does not care if they are married or not, marriage has nothing to do with the loan agreement between these two individuals and the bank.

Something doesn’t sound right. The car should have been addressed in the divorce, it should have been part of the property settlement.

USUALLY when I have an issue like this in a divorce, the party that gets the financed vehicle has 30-60 days to refinance the vehicle and provide proof that the former spouse’s name has been removed from the loan.
