Why 2x6 walls?

It allows for more insulation, hence more efficient heating and cooling.


Always told it's not needed in this part of the country, especially on a brick. Don't know how long it would take to overcome cost of 6" lumber and insulation. I guess it causes issue setting doors and windows too.


Not sure about you, but I run my AC or heat 90% of all days.
According to my research the additional cost is under $2000 and results in energy savings of up to 20% which can be recouped in as little as one year.
