Talk to me about Remedy aka Triclopyr? Where does it fit in compared to say Imazapyr?

Triclophyr was one of the ingredients in crossbow, and is for woody and broadleaf weeds. Imazapyr is like round up, but it leaves the ground bare for a while.

Triclopyr is primarily used for control of woody species, although it does have activity on broadleaf weeds as well. Imazapyr is commonly used for controlling brush, especially sweetgum, in utility type applications and also forestry. It can be somewhat selective at lower rates and not leave bare ground. It has activity on both broadleaf weeds as well as grasses. There are aquatic uses for some formulations also.

Thanks 007. So would Imazapyr be safe and a good use around the edge of a pond?

Crossbow is 2-4D and Triclopyr, Its hell on woody species. The Bayer brand brush killer from Lowe's is Triclopyr and has done better on fenceline brush control for me than 2-4D, Grazon next HL, or anything containing Dicambia. For an all vegetation killer, I've had good success with Eraser. If you have or know someone who has an applicators license, there is better stuff out there.

It really depends on what you are targeting, and you also need one approved for aquatic use if any will be sprayed into the pond. As a stand-alone product I don’t recommend it for brush, as there are several common species that tolerate it fairly well, but combining with a triclopyr (HELENA has one called Trycera that can be used near ponds) will be more effective. Note that going with rates on the higher end may hinder uptake/translocation of other products as it can brown out leaves fairly quickly.

Just keep in mind, 41% glysophate contains 59% of "not weed killer". 😉

FYI, don't mix clorox with roundup.
I don't know if it contains ammonia, but it has an unpleasant reaction.
