It looks to me that a Carp is about the same thing as a Red Horse Sucker, and if they are similar they should be some good eating. A Red Horse is some fine eating, if you gash the bones right.

I never tried milk with fish before, I imagine some fried up bream with a tall glass of cold milk would be mighty fine. Milk is great, especially right before bed.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

There's carp, and then there is grass carp, which is often called white amur. Sterile white amur are often put in ponds to control weeds; they eat plants. I have eaten them and they are decent, but not my favorite. I've never tried to eat one of the other carp species, and I don't think I have missed much. I've heard that they are pretty good canned

A Red Horse is a much different fish and is one of the best tasting fish in the river. But they are full of Y bones and you have to find some way to deal with them. If I just had one, I would fillet him and leave the skin on, then make a cut through the meat but not through the skin every 1/8" or so and fry him crispy. If had a bunch of them I would can them. They are much better than salmon.

That’s what I been up to this morning, me and JT started at about 630 catching a few bream and catfish ( I way prefer the bream) outta the pond that we’re gonna fry up for supper. I started feeding about a 50# bag of high protein fish food a week last fall and it’s amazing what it’s done for my bream. We caught several this morning 2 plus pounds, gonna be some good eating.

Milk sux

I'm feeding mine too, I go through a 40lb bag every 10 days or so. it is amazing how many small bluegill there are, it's been a great start to the spawning season. I spread the food mainly near the beds and the fish nearly come out of the water getting it. I'm seeing the catfish too, they come near the beds, so I try to lead them away with a few splatters of food 30-40 yards away. it has become almost a hobby now...go figure, LOL
