Was hoping somebody went from pins to chips to tell me if they were better or not. Gut in video is convinced and I never thought about pins wearing out but iI guess they will. I'm going to get 5 lbs any way. Just wanted feedback before I pulled the trigger. I have one buddy that swears by chips. So anybody else on here use them?

That is what I have been doing but the last 3 batches didn't look like some I did a couple months ago. Actually took a magic eraser and cleaned them up. Thought about cutting up a bunch of magic eraser cubes and tumbling brass and cubes together. I kinda like shiny brass even though I know it doesn't shoot any better. Well won't cost me but $30 to try them.

I have both. I use the pins 99% of the time. The only negatives to the pins is the drying time. I'm using a dehydrator now for drying and it's a lot faster than anything else I've tried.
i have had a problem in the past with removing some black off of cases. My problem was too much spray lube. If I run into that now I just add a little bit of mean green (dollar gen), run it for a little bit, rinse and do my regular. I found that sometimes the dawn just cant cut the Hornady Spray lube if it gets applied too liberally. Not usually an issue but occasionally. My needles have been in service for a few years now, they have cleaned thousands and thousands of rounds and I dont see an issue so far.
I have wanted to make the jump to SS media, but I don't feel I tumble enough now to make it worthwhile. I typically run 2-3 boxes of rifle brass at a time. Walnut shell seems to be working fine for me, just dusty.
Hmm..have not thought about the mean green lately. Maybe I did get a little heavy on this batch. I sprayed them and had to go do something else before I resized them so they sat for like 2 weeks because I was gone a week. They don't normally sit that long. That dang magic eraser pad did make for some pretty brass though. I've got another tumbler full of old media that I have never used. I may break it out and get some new walnut media to try on this last batch that is still kind of dull. odo how do your primer pockets look after you tumble. Use SS and you won't even bother to look at them again.

Like you'd expect. If you want them clean you pick up the primer pocket brush. Tip of a bic pen to pop the grains out of the flash hole. That's been the real reason I have looked at going SS. But by the time I buy a rotary tumbler, the media, etc, it's just more than I am willing to spend on it right now.

If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Got the double Harbour Freight rock tumbler and 2lbs of pins and use a piece of 4in pvc to build a drum. Less than $80 all together. Primer pockets are always nearly perfect. Inside is perfect. I guess having both options would be beneficial.

I don't either since they are a lot harder than brass and the only thing that they could wear on is each other.

I think what happened I sprayed the lanolin and alcohol and let it sit a couple weeks. This was once fired and pretty tarnished. I just dry mine in the oven. Let oven get up to 250. Put cases on a paper towel on a cookie sheet put in oven and turn off. 5lbs of the chips are under 25 dolllars. Cheap enough to try and report back.

Well I guess I figured it out or at least did something right. All I did was add some stuff like simple green that I had on hand and I cut up a magic eraser into 5 strips and put in and tumbled for 2 hours. I was happy with these.
