I've heard this deal was done a month ago but they're waiting to announce until after the current FLW season.

As for big players involved in MLF, that's true. But that means little when it comes to financial losses. Outdoor Sportsman Group won't put up with low ratings and losses in the millions of dollars no matter who's playing the game. OSG already has undergone a wave of layoffs and continually is looking at the bottom line.

MLF isn't just Boyd's and Gary's and a few other Big Players' outlier tournament dream anymore. Bigger entities are involved.

If it works, great. I'm all for people having a dream and achieving it. But saying the sky is sunshiny blue over and over and over doesn't always make it so.

Yes I know they won’t tolerate poor performance but the business plan doesn’t show them making a profit for the first 6 years. Their was also a lot of leg work done in advance before it was ever announced. It may go under next year but I do think Boyd has very good business acumen and has been very successful in his past endeavors. Bass pissed a lot of them off for various reasons. I don’t see many going back.
I think the FLW purchase will be a good thing. I think they will get the BFL’s back to be an affordable, working mans weekend tournament. BFL payout is like 50% right now. That’s ridiculous in my opinion

Is G Man happy with his decision to go to Mlf now that there a few events into the season.

Yeah I don’t think any of them regret it especially not having to pay entry fees. It’s taking some getting use to though. He has been a few ounces away from the cut several times but practicing for bites and not pounds changes things

I enjoy watching them, doesn't matter to to me what size they catch. Seems fishing is heading towards the same rank as hunting( only care about the big ones)

The anglers had to sign a 3 year deal, IMO when the 3rd year is done, several will go back to BASS. Some guys, Hackney for example just don’t fish for numbers. KVD hasn’t made a cut yet. I don’t see him leaving since he’s the poster boy forBassPro. Swindle actually commented in one of the events after loosing a big fish that he had 4 more events this year and 8 for the next 2 years. I took it as that’s when he could go back to Bass. I predict that in the future you’ll see more of the format used for conservation purposes, but I don’t expect it to be 100%. The classic weigh-in for example is way to big of a crowd draw.

Will the MLF Bass Pro Tour be aired on TV?

I realize that the cups are already shown, but they are from the previous year.

A member of the media pointed out something on a Podcast I was listening to a couple weeks ago. There is a large amount of the Mlf pros who are screaming conservative with the catch weigh release. Who are fun fishing keeping the fish in livewell all day then long arming 5 fish for photos all for social media purposes. Most of these guys could care less about conservation. It's all about the $

Veering off into left field.... I am a tournament fisherman, have for all of my adult life, won my fair share and at least was competitive in most of them (except for this past Saturday grin) . And I flatly reject this 'fishing for 5 bites' notion. The concept of fishing for "big fish" is goofy, at least with this notion that you're intentionally going to use something that limits your bites, with the idea that only a "big" fish will bite your lure. I'm fishing for EVERY bite, and I'll cull them as I go. I guess what I'm saying is never, in no way, do I want to limit the number of bites I get. But maybe I just don't know what I don't know. I didn't realize there were places where ONLY big fish live and eat. I've caught every size fish, in every place I fish, on every lure I've used, deep, shallow, every method. I'm just not gonna chance going bust because I'm using some oversized lure thinking I'll magically catch fish that I wouldn't have otherwise caught on normal sized lures.

Besides, what is a "big' fish? Humh??? Which lake? What day? How do you know what it would take THAT day? Five 4 pounders?...12 pounds?...it's just goofy. I want to catch 50 fish, and keep the biggest 5 of them, whatever they may be (and usually they're big enough)

There is truth to your statement, but if a guy throws a jig all day in heavy cover in a lake with quality fish in it, he’s more than likely going to be a top contender bs the guy throwing the shakey head. I understand a shakey head will catch a big fish, but day in day out the 5 jig fish will out weigh the 5 shakey head fish. There’s exceptions to every rule but in most cases.

I do get the premise, I'm just not convinced it's true in reality. So we've got a large pocket filled with boat docks, I believe if there's a 5 pounder under one of those docks she's equally likely (possibly even more likely) to eat a shakey head than she is that jig. BUT more importantly, if there is NOT a 5 pounder in there, I'm way more likely to not zero! rofl
