I’m done with them. It’s been a tough year around these parts. Ended up killing 3 but none of them got on fire maybe 4 or 5 gobbles. Hunted both private and public and has been the same. Weather has been crap and last gobble I heard was about 2 weeks ago. Some may have but I’ve never seen them act this way. Like I’ve said before I did see a bunch of jakes so maybe next year will be better. Headed to north Texas in 2 weeks so maybe I can get my fix for the year. Congrats to the killers.

.I don't have any idea what a water drop putt would be. I don't know people language; just turkey language. smile

In all of my turkey experiences, a putt is bad.
Putt means you are busted.

I have had gobs and Jake's walk all around putting while, what I would say they are looking for the hen and know whe should be here, but they are not spooked

That's the sound I've been talking about. It's different from the alarm putt and it's more intense and sharper than a cluck.

Congrats to all who got one today; it was a tough morning

In the words of Lovett Williams, “the only difference in an alarm putt and a cluck is if the turkey is calm, or if it’s running or flying away.” It went something like that anyway. There’s different clucks (putts) just like there are different yelps, purrs, whines, etc. Some are calm and quiet, some are loud and raspy. Some are done standing in one spot, feeding, or getting the hell outta dodge. The only difference is the mood and/or action of the turkey.
