Inshore guy here that grew up fishing the rivers, but after having a center console, there is no way I would ever deal with carpet again. We deer hunted on the river and I don't care how well you thought you cleaned it, dirt was still there. Water hose, bleach and Dawn and I'm good to go now.

Agreed. YOU HAVE TO KEEP THIS BOAT COVERED! If not, it will be junk in 2 to 3 years. The only boat made that can set outside like that are solid fiberglass center consoles with no seats or coverings. [/quote]

Understand putting under a roof is best, but just so I’m understanding...the soft boat covers are worth the money and will provide worthwhile protection until I can get a lean-too added on the shed? Probably be at least a year before I can get a lean-too added on my shed. If not I might better build the lean-too now and wait on the boat.

One follow up question: This boat will likely be stored outside (not under a shed/roof). I really like carpeted decks but wondering if I should go with a spray in or vinyl (Tracker) covered flooring? I asked a couple of the dealers and one said carpet would be fine, the other says no way. Thoughts?

stay away from tracker if its gonna be outside they have wooden decks the reason I bought my lowe is because it is 100% aluminum construction I keep it under a carport but it still gets some spray when the wind is blowing I've replaced decking and transoms before it isnt fun

I'd recommend an old school tarp instead of the boat cover. More UV protection and water proof, not water resistant.

You'll be fine with a cover, just get a good one.

I have a 2005 alumacraft that I’ve always stored outside but covered with a heavy duty tarp from Lowe’s. Still have original carpet and it’s in great shape. You’ll be fine just keeping it covered until you can build your lean to.

Use a silver tarp, it will reflect the heat.
