So much rain I got tired of freshening up the traps. I thought of a simple old time sandwich bag (not a ziplock), and using it. Much cheaper than a golf ball, and easier to carry around. I thought it might not work, or it could actually attract the coons with the visual effect. I just placed the bag over the traps and tucked the flap under the spring, between the trap and ground. Covered all the traps the 15th before the rain. Ended up catching 5 coons today, so I'd write it works well. God Bless, David B.

How many traps you running?

On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

I've seen Grant woods is a soup can over the traps. Keeps out rain and crows. Coons can still smell and will lift the can off and still get into trap, but the bag is a good trick.

I put a white plastic cup like you would use to rinse at the Dentist office or just a white foamer, etc. over mine. Overnight with no rain I put a Golf Ball on top. I believe they see the white object and come over to investigate.
You can also make a PVC cap and just pre-bait and set everything slide the little cap over it. Makes it easy to set them.
