No, unless there is something significant we don't know about, this bond will get reduced because it surely doesn't fit into the bond schedule judges have to go by unless there are extenuating circumstances. I'd bet this is one of the instances of an elected judge just trying to appease the voters knowing it will get reduced.

As for the defendant who is the subject of this thread, if he HAD NOT been a school employee AND would have waited until her next Birthday, it would have been legal. Yep, she was LESS THAN A YEAR FROM BEING LEGAL.

A 16 year old is only legal for someone 18 and under in Alabama.

Yea, things are a lot different now than they used to be and teenagers today know a hell of a lot more about sex than they used to. The ones that get me are the teachers that have sex with 18 y/o students, and they still go to jail. I can see having a rule against having sex with students, if your a teacher, and being fired but you shouldn't go to jail for having sex with an 18 y/o.

Snap chat and all of these other apps make it so easy for this crap to get started. Starts with a little flirting, attention, then pictures start being exchanged. Snowballs downhill quickly. I'm just glad my cell phone in high school was a bag phone without the capability of pictures. Lol. Also, my teachers were old as dinosaurs and as big as a school bus. No chance for this to happen.

A lot of what is wrong with this situation is that he held a position of esteem and authority over her.

I’m not looking for a way to excuse this at all. It was illegal, period. HOWEVER, as perverted as it may appear, in less than a year she will be old enough to consent to have sex with ANY man, or woman, in Alabama as long as they aren’t a school employee at her school.
