I shot 2 this year with this exact shot. One DRT and one went maybe 30 feet downhill. It is a shot I feel comfortable taking if the situation is right.

With a rifle, I don't worry about whether a deer is broadside or not, unless he's way off. I aim to where my bullet goes thru both lungs, no matter how he is standing. Usually DRT.
