For those of you who shoot crossbows, what are your preferred broad heads (mechanical or fixed) and what grain? I shoot an old Parker Buck Buster 150 and have always used 100 gr broad heads. However, I read about a lot of guys preferring the 125gr. broad heads. I usually shoot mechanical broad heads. Just wondering what all of you out there prefer and why. thanks

NAP Spitfire

100gr on my Horton
125gr on my Wicked Ridge.

What every flys better is the weight/bolt/BH I use.

100 grain standard slicktricks or 100 grain spitfires for mechanical. I like my total weight to be around 425 no reason to shoot a 125 at a deer I get a pass thru about 85% of the time. I like fixed blade better than mechanical one less thing to go wrong and screw up a good shot.

I used to use NAP spitfires but had a bad experience with them, for the last 5 or 6 years I've used exclusively 100 grain Rage (the ones specifically designed for crossbows) on my Tenpoint Titan. my dad and I both use the same setup and have killed a lot of deer with them, truly unreal damage and bloodtrail.

the slick tricks are fixed blade I've had really good results with them I've never had to tune one and they always shoot to within an inch of my field points only reason I used spit fires is because the cutout on my mission crossbow wasnt big enough to fit the tricks in. the spitfires shot tru but I dont trust broad heads with moving parts so I had some longer arrows made and went back to the tricks.

my first crossbow was a parker buckbuster 175, with the red hot arrows that thing loved slick tricks. I probably killed 10 deer with it never lost one always had a clean pass thru and it was pinpoint accurate. I would stay with a 100 grain BH that's what mine always shot the best.
