I never used a crimp on my bolt guns in 300 mag, but I could see where the bolt cycling on a bar could cause the bullet to move, not like but possible. I don’t see where a light crimp would cause an issue as long as you are not maxed out on powder. I crimp 30-30s because they will move on you in the magazine without any issues.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

I never crimped mine and had no trouble shooting them out of my 300 WIn Mag BAR. I shot a deer at about 10 yds with a 150 gr Core-lokt. It made a mess on the exit but nothing unexpected for that velocity/range. I reloaded 165 gr bullets but eventually just went to 180 gr commercial loads.

He said that when he shot the deer it just hunched up and trotted off and stood there for a minute and then ran off. He showed me a picture of the deer when he found it and it was pretty messy. I tried to talk him into going to a 180 but he really wanted to stay with the 150 since that's what he had been using and had the Boss set for. I believe he's under the impression that just because the bullet weights are the same the POI will be the same but I explained to him that there's probably gonna be a big difference between what I load for him vs the core lokts.

I never crimp any rifle rounds, and I shoot guns which recoil more than a 300 win mag. As long as you have sufficient neck tension, you shouldn't have any issues. Test it on the range with a full magazine. Fire two or three rounds and measure the remaining round in the magazine to see if the OAL has changed.

I'd crimp lightly course I'd also not load 150s in Wins shortnecked .300. Yes someone had to be "that guy" and say it. Personally I'd go 165s and H4350 or Rl22 something slowish burning but not super slow.

Yeah I was looking at the recommended load data on nosler's website and I was going to try a light load of 70 grains of imr4350 which is still just over 3200 fps and shows that it was the most accurate using that imr4350. Biggest reason for going with the imr4350 is because I already have some since I load it in my 7 mag and 243 and won't have to go buy anything special just to load his 300 with but if it doesn't group well I'll start experimenting with different powder. I load a 180 Sierra GK in one of my 300 win mags over 71.0 gr of IMR4350. 3050 fps and kills deer like a bolt of lightning.

I started crimping lightly on all my cartridges except rodent ammo.i use a lee neck crimp die I have about 30 some different neck crimp dies for that many cartridges ,I use the 300 win.mag one also and I do believe my ammo is just a little more accurate, plus bullets stay seated better too.my good friend believes neck crimp dies do help with a little accuracy. Midway USA sell`s lee neck crimp dies the cheapest
