Usually doesn't get good till mid January. At least that's my hope. Duck hunting on arsenal should be lights out though.

We are seeing young bucks doing a lot of cruising and nosing around, but the big guys don't seem to be rutting yet.

Small ones are following and occasionally running the does alittle but big boys are on scrapes real hard and traveling doe bedding areas looking and waiting for first hot doe.

As of Wednesday, arsenal had harvested 1 buck and 21 or 25 does. Buck was small from the pic I saw.

If the Arsenal gets 15 bucks this yr, I'll be surprised.

The biologist out there said they really hammered them last year. They met quota in early JAN at about 76 if I remember right.

There are plenty of good ones out there, just not many areas open due to missions.

I’m sure there are. Just waiting on the rut and/or the test areas to open.

What's open now is most likely all you will see open this yr. They will get started out there in about 10-15 days.

The doe harvest is up on RSA from last year. The buck harvest is 10 or 15 behind this time last year. I hoped the ranges would open up for the holidays - but no joy.

The new penalties for shooting undersized bucks are making hunters be more careful before shooting. It used to be a 30 day suspension for shooting an undersized deer. Now it is two years.

There was an absolute monster killed out there. I believe it was Sunday evening. But that is correct, as of a couple of weeks ago there had only been 2 bucks killed. Im sure that number has gone up since then but its almost mathematically impossible for it to have gone up too much in that time even with the rut. I agree with antlerhunter by saying 15 bucks or so will probably be all thats taken. Should be some monsters next year for sure.

Live for something bigger.

What limit did they put on buck size?
