#2 since I was a kid. Sure miss seeing that quill stand up and ease away, when I'm fishing a jig. Use to catch 'em with a 1/16 maribou and a float. It don't work for me anymore. (?)
Matt Brock wears knock-off Crocs.

Back to hooks.... a #2 hook sure looks kinda big to me, especially on a little 4# line.
Maybe a big hook if you're catchin big crappie. I use to think a #2 was too big until I found out that lots of people in MS use 1/0 hooks. Those guys who fish the "Big 4" swear by em. You'd have to use 3" grubs to use that large a hook. You'll lose lots less fish on a bigger hook. You get more roof of the mouth hookups instead of lip hook ups. I use a 1/0. I hook alot more than when I used a smaller one. I also switched to the mustad hooks instead of the eagle claw or other brands with a light wire because the mustads dont bend and are sharper. Some people would rather use the others because they can bend them out of brush or hangups but not me. I hook a lot in the roof of the mouth and that stiffness helps a ton with penetration.

Clouser,bead-head nymph,black gnat,or a micro-jig on a fly rod.I use a lot of different jigs,but really like a 1/16oz Keystone minnow on an ultra-lite...

I like the Bobby Garland Baby Shade. 1/16 bighead with a Sickle hook.
