Had an old man ask me years ago:
If you are in a green field and see 4 deer which one do you shoot? I replied, either the biggest buck of the biggest doe. He said, No. You shoot the one closest to the woods so you can shoot another one before they all run away.
(Yes he was an outlaw in his younger days).
