well, I bowhunted all year for the first time myself (except one lonely afternoon when I had an awful cold, and sat in a shooting house - and regretted it). Anyway, killed a couple does and had two impressive performances from Tekan's (first time shooting them, now I here they are changing them...again). I love January hunting, but my season is pretty much over. My wife has a scheduled delivery for next Wednesday for our second child - another boy, and I am gonna be a good husband and hang it up this year. Got to build some points for turkey season, when things get serious. Congratulations. I'd tell my wife to suck it up and postpone that delivery about 3 more weeks. Give it a try and let us know exactly how that turns out for you.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I just like being up close and intimate with deer! I killed a doe last week with my bow. I wasn't going to shoot her but she kept sniffing around my tree and knew something wasn't right.
I could only take it for so long... not a buck in sight and after approx 10 mins, I couldn't take it any longer!!!
Great lesson learned... my Summit climber.... the standing platform was too low from my sitting platform. When I stood up, I could not shoot direct below (well, not straight down, but almost) me as the bottom of my bow was hitting the climber's bar on the sitting platform.
I had to wait until the doe moved out to 15 yards before I could place an expandable b'head perfectly behind the shoulder!
After the shot, I lowered my sitting platform and practiced pulling my bow back to make sure my bow would not hit my stand and it worked. I'm just glad I didn't make that mistake with a big buck!!!
Anyway, yes, when I'm hunting by myself and not with my son, I'm bow hunting and LOVIN' it!!

Finished my bowhunting for the year, 2 bucks (8 and 6) and 4 doe. Had a blast. Man it gets rough trying to hide in a tree in Jan. Lack of cover and educated deer sure make getting one close a challenge.
Already looking for to next Oct! LOL

Haven't carried a gun all season. 1 buck and 2 does so far. Hope to get 2 more before season is over next week. Put my son on 4 so haven't tried hard for myself after my kills.

Killed a very very nice Alabama 8 pt on 1-15-12 with my bow and a very nice mainframe 8 with my bow in IL this past Nov. I'll post soon. I haven't fired my gun all year and don't plan to.
