I like his reasoning. Jesus didn't write the KJV ,as some seem to think.
The "Lord's prayer" is not "a" prayer anyway. It is an outline as to how to pray. If the King James Version was good enough for Peter, Paul, and John than it is good enough for me! Do what?

Matt 4:1 - Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.
God does not tempt anyone with evil - Jas 1:13 Nailed it. 1st and foremost, you have be willing to be led by Christ. When Christ is your pilot and not your co-pilot (never understand that bumper sticker) temptation is a moot point. Temptation is always there, otherwise no one would ever sin after being born again. What you really mean is that when you give your life to Christ ,he will begin to deal with those things in your life which are unprofitable to you.

We is joking brother. I've seen podiums with "King James Only" engraved on them. That's being proud to stay ignorant.

This theological discourse aside, I am grateful I do not (in theory or in fact) answer to a Pope. That's what the Protestant Reformation gave us non-Catholics. I know lots of Catholics who are not happy with this Pope. I do not agree with much of what I've heard or read about his politics. I am a happy Anglican.

anyhow, the pope can't "change" scripture anywhere but in the catholic version of the Bible. the private companies that publish Bibles in all the myriad translations can follow along - or not ; denominations can follow along - or not ...

If Michael Jackson hadn’t OD’ed on drugs and had molested just one more little boy, Pope Francis would have given him his own parish. When this pope sees pictures of Karl Marx, he gets a stiffy.

Screw the Pope! I don't answer to him and never will. Why Catholics worship this fool is beyond me!

He is no pope. He's a puppet of Satan. All you have to do is review his actions and observe what he stands for.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I'm not a fan of the whole Pope thing in general, much less this specific pope. That's a pretty bold move to change that verse. I understand that scholars can get better and better at correct translation to English at times...Greek or Aramaic to English is difficult to do word for literal word and it make sense or readable. Any translation writing has to be rock solid and have checks and balances built in to keep things straight. I wish I had that in my own head...which leads me to another thought.
A great temptation we all have is "rewriting" Scripture to fit our wants, desires, circumstances...
I speak for myself as well...but how often do we know what the Bible says but yet we try to soften in to fit our lives or somehow justify our relaxing of standards/noncompliance/disobedience/etc...? I know that can be easy for me to do. I love the Lord and I'm confident in my salvation 100% based on Christ's work...but I'm not always all-in on following the full letter (commands, advice, etc...) because that means I have to change or give up something.
I've always understood the Lord's Prayer to be be talking about temptation in this context: Our Lord God does not tempt us to sin. But as we are living life we know we have a sin nature and we can find ourselves in tempting circumstances...circumstances were we fail, stumble, etc. by our own doing. This part of the prayer comes right after asking for forgiveness of our own actions/inaction and asking for a heart that forgives others. "And lead us not into temptation" is related to the preceding verse....Lord lead me, guide me, equip me to stay away from the path where I failed, stumbled, sinned and was wrong...that area that I need forgiveness---keep me out of that. Key in the phrase is "lead us not"...which is a negative reference which means we are praying that God will in the positive sense lead us away from temptation....hence the rest of the sentence "BUT, deliver us..." The "but" as a conjunction joins the phrases and tells the fuller story.

'cat, i would suggest the unspoken/unwritten/understood pronoun "you" is the issue. "YOU lead us not into temptation, but YOU deliver us from evil ..." this is a statement of biblical fact, that grants the Father all of the glory ...
makes a big difference ...
