Anybody ever seen one of these?

When my grandfather died several years ago, I inherited all of his guns, and among them was a really odd, mostly unmarked single-shot rifle. I recently started researching it again and have identified it as a Belgian Flobert rifle in .32 cal. Has an octagon barrel and a "trapdoor" breech. Not particularly valuable, in monetary terms, but cool nonetheless. Mine looks mostly identical to the one pictured below, though not in useable condition (even if it was, most of what I have read said it's not save to shoot modern ammo in them - not sure if you can even get .32 rimfire anymore?) so it will mainly be a wall-hanger.

That's a rare keeper, right there. Regardless of actual value, I wouldn’t ever get rid of it.

That is sharp & a heck of a conversation piece in my eyes. I'd hang that joker for everyone to see, just so they'd let me tell them about it and grandpa.

I'm trying to remember the story about how he got the gun (it was actually his dad's originally - my great-grandfather). The story I recall (can't verify the accuracy, but it's what we were always told) was that my great grandfather got the gun as part of some promotion a local small town store was running where if you bought a sack of flour or corn meal or something, you were put in a raffle for a gun, and my great grandfather won it.

When my father died I got all of his guns and ammo. They were some 32 rim fire in a box of ammo he had. I had never seen any before.

Dixie Gun Works sells reloadable brass shells in both .32 Short and .32 Long. The casing accepts .22 blanks as a primer and black powder as the propellant, with a 310 round ball.

There's also a .32 Rimfire kit made by HLE Books in Belgium. It comes with brass and dies.

Loaded some .32 parlor longs once like 3.0 grains of Bullseye.

I'd have to kill something with it. Make a fine Turkey gun.

Lol, nah, I think I'll stick with a 12ga for the Turkey birds. There's just something satisfying about hammering one so hard it turns a flip.

I have it checked and then order the stuff to load for it. Guns ain't made to hang on the wall..

So, when I post a thread in a few months asking for info on reloading an old, obscure caliber, are you gonna respond to that thread b*tching about me asking about it?

I have almost the identical gun. Any idea when this might have been manufactured?

Best I’ve been able to determine is anywhere between late 1890’s to somewhere in the 1920’s…there’s some info out there but it’s a little tough to find.
