Well I was in Waverly earlier today. I was grabbing my stand out of the garage and my uncle warned me to be careful. I say ok and proceed on about my day. He then tells me the neighbors say they saw a large black bear cross the creek that boarders the land. I turned around and went in the house to watch some college football. 44 Magnum will be my next purchase.

I'm serious man. I don't do bears. Call me what you want. Some animals you just don't take chances with!

You might be telling the truth. However that doesn't mean I shouldn't protect myself in the woods. I always carry a sidearm. Only a 9mm. However I'm comfortable with it for bobcats or stray dogs which I am used to encountering. I wouldn't go out my way to bother the bear, however if he turns to walk or run towards me I have to put em down. I rather be sitting in court rather than laying in a casket because I put too much trust in Nature.

They really are more scared of you, if you're serious. In reality, unless you're walking around pistol drawn, it's useless unless the bear announces his presence. If ya gun hunting, you already have better protection than a pistol

We got bears and cats here and I don't pack my pistol. Like I said, it's useless holstered, especially if a big cat. I'll only carry if im tagged out and not packing my bow.

Yeah the property I was on today I bow hunt on because there are a few trailers in with 150 yards. So a sidearm is a must.

All it takes is one. There's reason all those type predators are gone from here.

A lot of folks wear these on their packs in bear country. Mainly grizz country but, be good to wear on your belt

I can't imagine seeing a bear coming towards me and I'm unarmed. But im pretty sure I'd need more underwear.

Bluff charges they get like 10yds from ya, freaky. Not enough bears there to worry. It's the guys corn feeding them that gonna get a close up. Blackies aren't nearly intimidating as the brownies in Alaska.

I'm from alabama. Some things I'm not used to. I don't care if it's a Black Bear, Brown Bear, Polar Bear, Grizzly Bear, Kodiak or a Panda. It's a bear and I want no part of it.
