What you do is ask for a jury trial...if it's worth it to you. No different from hitting a deer/animal in your car on the side of the road and dispatching it to prevent suffering. Technically you might be in violation of the law but under the right circumstances a jury wouldn't find you guilty.



That actually happened to me a few years ago coming home from Selma on 7 heading into Greenville.

A young doe was just hit and her back was broken. I finished her off with my pistol and was on my way. It sure tore me up to see her like that.
