I shot a doe this evening. As she was coming in I noticed a big gash on her back. It was the same doe I lost two weeks ago due to a high shot. I hit her in no man’s land below the spine and I always get sick when I lose a deer so to have the same deer come in today was pretty cool to finish her off. She had a bad gash and I don’t think she would have survived. When I got back to the truck the game warden was waiting on me. He checked my license and after I told him I had just shot a doe, he wanted to ride out with me to see where I’d shot it. After he checked everything out he helped me drag the deer back to my truck and load it. He was extremely nice and professional. He couldn’t have been more that 22-25 years old. He was from Lawrence County I believe. Good guy

Not how I thought it would go, glad I was wrong.

There is no void, or "No Man's Land", between the spine and lungs. There is, however, quite a bit of room above the spine.

Good story. Good to hear. Congrats on getting the deer. I have never had one help me drag one, but I have had one waiting on me at the road as soon as I drug one out by myself. Btw: that reminds me. Has anyone seen a young brunette lady game warden up in the Jackson County area? My cousin and I spoke to her in passing at a gas station a little while back. We were looking at each other kind of shell-shocked like "damn, is this a joke?" She was very easy on the eyes and seemed to be nice as well. She’s not a warden. She’s the biologist over the waterfowl areas up there. Sharp as tack too. She’ll be an asset wherever she goes.
